FlipQuiz – it’s a new online services for teachers to create the quiz.
Just having a quick try, it satisfied for me! As Flipquiz is easy to use, sign up then all gets to work!
You can simply enter your board’s name. Entering the question and answer, the rest leave it to Flipquiz. All done in a second!
Then you can login in any devices PC/MAC, iPad or Android to start your board and review what you talk with students!
The Playground of Mathematics – it’s an online service about math exercise. You can choose your language (13 types) to do the exercises in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
After you choose your right languages at the top of website, you can start your exercise.
Also, you can set the difficulty on different types of math.
After all the settings done, you can do your exercise via keyboard or just through the web!

Just a quick try of the web. I really love this web so much. Easy to use and helpful. You can use it right on your desktop or mobile devices. And, it’s free!
DeskConnect – it’s a new service to transfer your files, like photos, doc, Websites, to your Mac or iDevices.
The workflow is really simple: 1) installs the app from Mac store on your Mac 2) install the app from App Store.
The advantages of DeskConnect is Free and convenient. No need to upgrade to IOS 7 but has the same functions on AirDrop.
After a short try, I like its speed which is really fast.

Teachers can use this app to transfer the files to students easily. I used this app to share the “Flash” content to my students’ devices and open it from “Puffin” directly!
QuestBase provided an online assessment platform. It supports various platforms: PC, Mac, Linux, Android, IOS, etc.
Teachers need to sign up an account. It used to create the test and questions through their platform.
This platform can let you create many types of question: MC/ True & False, Fill-in-the-blank, Essay, etc.
This platform support chinese characters(view only, not support printed version) and the most important features: Equation!
After you key in all the questions, you can output as online test (multi-platform), or print it as traditional test paper.
Then you can prepare to publish the online test.
After you finished the online test. You can “double-click” the online test that you prepared. You can find the “pin” cod e for students to join in. Student can go to QuestBase website. Type in the right “Pin” code and start the online test.

Local Cloud a new cloud storage concepts powered by Delite studio. The concepts : storage files right on your computer, view and edit on them via mobile devices.
As the screenshot above, you need to install the client program on your Mac or PC. Both of these are free. Then you need to download your IOS APPS to your iPhone/ iPad which is cost $9.99. I download it on free when they have promotion. You may use “Appshopper” to monitor the sale (web / apps).
After a quick trial, I pretty awesome on their speed. Really fast and smooth. When you view the files through “local Cloud” via your idevices. Local Cloud need to download it first (of course both computer and idevices using the same WiFi network). Then you can view or using other third-party apps to view it. Some of you may concern “Can it use multi-devices at the same time?”, the answer is yes! It suit for classroom use!

Local Cloud suitable for classroom (be careful the classroom’s computer ip, static ip is advised). Teachers can save the files/ video on the shared folder of Local Cloud on the PC. Students can use/ download it by themselves. Safe, fast and convenient ! Offical FAQ is here.
Sketchlot – A new web 2.0 services that you can create , share your sketch to others. But this tool is specially designed for educational use. It can also support share student’s sketch to peer (all or selected) or teachers!
The flow is : teacher needs to sign up account, add students account (just need name and password).
Then, teacher can create his/her sketchlot first, then pass share and choose the selected student to share. After it, students will received the teacher’s sketch or student can create their own piece and share to peer.
All flow can be done within the browser. Really good for school in teaching!
1) Create teacher’s account, remember need to create a “class code” with letter and number.
2) Then you will see a control panel. Now, you should create student list.
3) Student account password can be same on saving. But I did not recommend the same password as you can’t access it except the first student.
4) Create your own sketch , then press share sketch button.
5) Student can use browser to login into sketchlot website (using class code you assigned and students password). If students share their own sketch to you. You will see them on the control panel( refresh the browser in case no can’t see anything).

Teachers can use them inside the classroom. I just found that you can use it on “Nearpod” share function. It works well.
Today I test an APP which is come from Kingsoft software. This company probably a china company which is famous on Office Suite called “Kingsoft office professional 2013“. The main functions of this software can edit or create documents like doc, xls and ppt. That is doing same functions of Microsoft office – with free or cheapest price.
But now, I told that APPS is used on IOS/ Android. Let’s see what it can do:
1) Video Play in PPT is unique to Kingsoft
2) support cloud storage
3) share play function
4) High compatibility with Microsoft Office PPT
5) Optimized for iPhone 5
After several times to use, I really like the function of “shareplay”. This function support “play” your presentation in different devices at the same time. Some post like this said that It only support 6 devices in total. More than 6, you should need a projector. Other apps can have “share” function like slideshark. But it only has presenter vs audience mode – 1 control many. But inside this Kingsoft (PPT for IOS free) apps, all audience and presenter. That means you can control (move forward and backward) and draw note after you join the presentation. Really smooth and clever!

Nearpod Business launched at July, 2013. A new and enhanced version of Nearpod for Education.
It still free. All features can be used on Nearpod Business version. Yes! Would you see the bright point? Yes, all features! If you an old user of Nearpod (mostly of us less than 1-year using), you might know that both “sideshow” & “Browse the Internet” can’t use for Free user. It just provided several times to use under free account.
But now, Nearpod Business version, you can use it ! Thanks Nearpod Team.
Besides, this Nearpod Team gives us “On Demand” and “Live” functions. “Live” likes the pervious “Launch” function. You can control audience. But this time free account only support 3 per session (like 3 students).
For “On demand” , you can share via email / pin to audience up to 100 per month. That’s really flexible for presenter. Also, the audience can view the NPP(Nearpod presentation) by themselves. i.e. no control functions like “Homework for education Nearpod version”.
This version supports “web app”. That means you can “join session” via PC/MAC. As this features only included on school account when it’s at Nearpod for Education Version. I have no idea when they switch back. Hope that this feature can keep it forever. I use it from September last year to now. Nearpod Team work very hard of it and always gives us surprise. Love Nearpod and their hard work!
GoSoapBox is a web services that gives you a system to communicate with your students.
After sign up and confirm your email. You can “create your room” to students. Then you can create some poll or questions. The most interesting thing about GoSoapBox is you and your students can ask questions immediately right on the browser. It makes you might answer the questions during your teaching!
It supports chinese characters in the questions but not in create room.
After give a try today, I think sounds good about the concepts, but a bit difficult to use – always swap when create the room/questions.
If you want this services, you may give a try it.
Quizlet is an online services which is work with mobile device and desktop.
In general, you just type the “matching words” , system will turn your words into the different type of games.
By the way of that, system can pronounce the word for you in over 60 different language (list here).
After you create your exercise, you can play with voice on your mobile devices or desktop.

Can’t imagine this service is FREE! If you want to add your own image on your questions, you need to upgrade. Otherwise, free account just suitable for most users.
1) Ge.tt (temperately Desktop to Desktop/Devices)
– upload files at desktop (pretty fast around 20kb/s)
– Get the shorten download link
– Open your desktop / devices browser , type the link and download.
P.S. 250M(without sign up for 30 days) / 2G(sign up), It can stream audio and video files, create folders, resume download.
2) Just Beam it (Desktop to Device , Device to Desktop, Device to Device)
– Drag or select the files to upload (For mobile device, like iPad, will open “camera roll ” instead)

These 2 web services quite useful for teachers to deliver course material to students. After a quick try, the speed to upload and download is satisfied for me. Give a try, you won’t be disappointed.
XtraMath – online Math platform for free. This website is an non-profit, and no adv. It gives you your students or child an extra exercise.
At first, you need to sign up as parent or teacher. It may need to find out what the school you teach.
Then you have a checklist to make “XtraMath” work.
You can add student, print flyer to parent, print the PIN for students.
After the above settings, you can set up your classroom/ home computers with “Classroom IN”.
Simply open the website of “XtraMath“. Click “sign in” and “Classroom”. Type the “PIN” then done.
Also, you can sign in as parent and student.
After you set up the computer in your classroom, student only need their teacher’s email, their own PIN and their name to start doing the exercise. After that, you can see who has finished the quiz in which date and month.

Today, I want to intro 2 websites to increase your creativity or more concentrate your work.
1) Soundrown
It provides various “sound” to simulate several situation, like: sea beach, coffee shop, playground, etc.
2) Coffitivity
This website likes the soundrown. It simulates coffee shop situation. If you like work in coffee shop, you should like this website. This website support plays the “coffee shop sound” and your music at the same time! I played my music at Google Drive on web and open Coffitivity at same time! It’ just work!
3) Rainymood
The last one is Rainymood. This website provides, you can imagine, rainy sound.
P.S. All 3 websites support iPad playback.
1) Forecast :
This website gives you the location weather and information.
It shows you today’s weather, next 7 days weather information.
It also has voice recognition on desktop version. The special features of Forecast is “time machine” function.
Once you enter the year and date, it can show the weather on that day!
The earliest day that I found is “January 2, 1937”.
2) Time.is
This website gives you the time of your entered location.
This features really suitable for travelling. Just open your smartphone/tablet, then you can simply got the “Time”, “Forecast” of your location. Even you can spell or know what you locate!
Boolify – Provide a custom search function for your kids – in a more easy way!
This site gives 5 options at left-side bar to let you “drag” to right-hand side. After you drag it, it gives you input your search word.
For example: I want to search “Steve Jobs in 1987”.

Why not use Google Search directly? Teaching students how to use Google Search smartly is one the aims of IT lesson.
Now you no need let students memorize “And”, “OR” such phase. All they have to do are “drag and input”, this is easier for young kids.

Hopscotch – It is a wonderful game programming apps on iPad! Simple concepts in 3 words: drag, edit and play.
All programming right on the iPad, you no need a PC to handle your code. JUST drag the code (like scratch developed by MIT), edit the parameter (like “colour”, “length”), then “play” or test it right on your iPad.
NO PC or Mac and no installation – better than other game programming software or apps. Of course, it just in beta stage of Hopscotch, the function is in small number. But, the idea is great!

If you are work on iPad in the classroom, you should like this apps. If you a teacher who teaching programming in school, you also like this apps. This is one of my favourite apps!
Pholium – This is an IOS Apps for creating photo album(download here). You can add photos, video. The most interesting is you can also record your voice to introduce your creation (Photos).
After you made your Photo Album, you can share via Facebook, Twitter. But the best thing is: If your friend also has this app, you can send the album to your friend’s app. Otherwise, they can view it on the web.
Also, Pholium support iCloud and Dropbox as Cloud storage.
All these functions are Free to use.

Of course, we don’t to print out the Photo book at school. But , we can use it in learning activities. Student use this apps to organize their work , record with their voice, add video to express complex ideas. All books can deliver to each other and view right on the apps or view online. Here is the description about this function.
Creators of books can easily give their photo e-books to others of their choosing using Pholium’s cloud server and a WiFi connection. Once a book is completed and “published” to the user’s Library, they may give their e-books by entering the recipients’ email addresses. The book is uploaded to the Apple iCloud or Dropbox servers and the recipients are automatically sent an email or push notification (to those recipients who already have Pholium on their iPad) that a book is being given to them. Recipients that do not have an iPad or Pholium, will receive a link to download an online web viewer of the book.
Today, I try to use this new service called ClipPick. This service seems developed from Korea.
ClipPick let you copy the text, image, links etc form your mobile device to your desktop computer. Once you installed the apps(Mobile device) and software(PC/Mac). It will do the job behind the system in 10 minutes. You can set up at “Launch when system initiates ” on your PC. Then when you copy(let says hold your finger to copy some text)on your mobile device, you can paste the “text” by right-click the mouse on your PC in any software! This service/APPS/Software support PC/MAC to mobile, mobile to PC/MAC, mobile to mobile….

Quik.io – This is a new service to share your files (Photo, Doc, Videos and Music) from your desktop.
Different from other Cloud storage services, it does not store any your files in the cloud. It only make a way from your computer to your devices, like iPad. The APPS on your iPad will found your files in your computer, then stream it or download it from your computer. It the file type not suitable for iPad viewing. It will convert automatically. It is easy to use and convenient.
After you download and install the APPS on your devices and desktop. You may also need to configure your firewall (probably your Router) to open the port form 38888-39000. (detail from Quik.io forum)

I think it is great way to share the teaching materials to student wirelessly. They can view the resources right from their devices. Once teacher add any materials, they can get it immediately! Nice teaching flow!
